 How To Get Involved as a Volunteer Advocate

  Volunteer Advocate Requirements

· 21 years of age

· Pass fingerprint background check

· Possess a valid CA Drivers License & means of transportation

· Able to complete a 30 hour training session

· Able to attend daytime Courtroom Hearings

· Able to maintain monthly contact &  reporting to CASA office

· Able to fulfill 12 hours continued education each year.

· Willing to commit to a minimum of one (1) year

· Willing to maintain strict confidentiality of all case information
 
 CASA Volunteer Advocates are appointed by a court order which has a specific request for them to fact find regarding the case

CASA Volunteer Advocates may have conversations with or (when appropriate) inspect records which may involve social service agencies, attorneys, doctors, dentists, healthcare providers, psychologists, psychiatrists, law enforcement and educational professionals

CASA Volunteer Advocates write an actual court report based on their findings and recommend what is in the Best Interest of the child

CASA Volunteer Advocates attend all court hearings involved with the case.  They stand up for the child and speak in the Best Interest of the Child  during the court hearing

Other Volunteer Opportunities
There are many other opportunities to support our program if becoming an advocate is not for you:

· Volunteer to assist in the office.

· Volunteer with fund raising events.

· Donate general office supplies.

· Donate stuffed animals, books, or games for children of all ages.

· Make a financial donation.

· Offer an in-kind service such as printing.
